Mervyn, the Micro's Soft Wizard

What's hard about the Web? I think I understand the Hyperlink

Mervin at the Gates of All Knowledge

That jumps you to another place in what is known as "Cyberspace".

What's the big deal? Hit any key and there appears in front of me

All kinds of stuff, much of it junk, like hype and spam and market bunk.

Tired of the tripe? Make a home page! Or maybe you're beyond that stage

And looking for something to do that's fun and non-addictive, too?

Hang up the modem. Write a letter! You might find that this is better

Than just scrolling screens for hours. Go out walking! Smell the flowers!

Bears like me are very few. Most don't know RAM from CPU.

You'll find them fishing in a creek, not hacking programs like some geek.

Sometimes I do envy bears -- the kind that aren't tied to their chairs.

A simple growl is all they need to make their little ones take heed.

No legislature can impose a ban on what a young bear knows.

I wonder. Can the net be such that it keeps us out of touch?

Like salmon, stuff floats past our eyes. We know so much, but are we wise?
