On the 24rd of December

Ah, Christmas Eve. That most mysterious and captivating day of the year for me. We've got the lasagna in the oven Kip's busy chopping up stuff for a dip and a cheese ball. I caved in last night and made up another batch of cookie dough--Brownie Mounds. Had to have SOME chocolate in there somewhere. Got them baked earlier. I'm feeling too busy, too busy. Now all this food is overkill because I've found out that my son Lee won't be making it. I should have just assumed. Sigh. That will mean that Kip will have lots of leftovers to take back to the other 2/3 of the Muckheads. Cookies and lasagna since they are high in carbs and I don't need anymore temptations. And spinach dip in a round of pumpernickel bread that will be too big for me to handle finishing off. Probably half a cheese ball, too, since Bill doesn't like them and I'll get tired of it in a couple of days. Man, I wonder what the rich people are eating. LOL.

I'm rather glad Lee's not coming though because the weather has turned nasty. He'd have a 2 1/2 hour drive and we've got rain/freezing rain/snow going on. It's suppsed to accumulate 1 to 3 inches. I think it's rather funny that they give us a Winter Storm Warning for only 1 to 3 inches. Lee said something about trying to come tomorrow. He's still not sure what he's supposed to do about going to his Dad's place up near Columbus. There was some talk between them two weeks ago but nothing been's finalized. Ho hum, nothing new there. So, I'm still not sure if Lee's really coming tomorrow. I'll tell ya, if he wasn't my son I would just give up on him.

Kip and I will be enjoying some game time tonight. He wanted a rematch on the Star Trek Life game since I kicked his booty last night. Oh, yeh, should I mention that I did go out ONE MORE TIME to the store... Ack! You knew it, I knew it, would happen. I discovered that the green onions I had in the "rotter" (Bill's word for the vegetable crisper) had...yep, you guessed it, rotted. Onion powder just wouldn't be the same so out to the store I had to go. Well, we could have used more beer anyway since I wasn't sure if Lee was coming or not.

Christmas Eve. I like to light a lot of candles around the room. I guess a lot of people tend to do that. Atmosphere. Right? And Christmas songs playing nonstop. Oh, yeh, I forgot I have eggnog. And rum to put in it. Sounds like a fine way to pass the time waiting for the lasagna to cook. I've already laden Bill with some sherry. Kip and I were doing a redneck Christmas earlier while getting the tree skirt and packages arranged under the tree and Bill got to laughing so hard that it stirred up his cat/dust allergy. He sat in the computer room continually trying to clear his throat for a couple of hours. Finally, I had Kip serve him a glass of sherry. I thought it might help relax his throat. Seems to have done the trick.

What's a redneck Christmas? Hmmm, actually, it should be more appropriately named a Dysfunctional Christmas. It involved a lot of cussing and berating each other with as many cuss words as we could think of. Yeh, we got a weird sense of humor, don't we? But you don't know who me and the Muckheads lived with for 23 years before Bill came along.

One happy catIt's turning out to be a nice Christmas Eve, relaxed, enjoyable, and in good company. Oh, you think I mean Kip? Well, yeh, but also the cats. While sitting here typing, the cats are on both sides of me snuggling into their special cat mats on respective surfaces. I've mentioned the mat on the VCR. I put another mat on top of the file cabinet that's on the left side of me, which is also in front of a window. It's been wonderful to see Kaboodle being able to enjoy the VCR mat without getting booted off it by Dusky. He's been content to sleep on the other mat. They're just like kids. You gotta have one of everything for both of them. And another Forgive all the cat pictures but they are too irresistible and, well, I don't have babies to photograph.

Okay, well, I'm going to say a goodnite to anyone who might be reading this and go enjoy our Xmas Eve. You have a good one, too, will ya? And if you aren't one who celebrates Christmas, you have a good evening, too.
