February Already
February 13, 2006
So where did January go so fast? It seems like the weeks are just speeding by. Not a good thing when your life is in its second half of its century. Nuttin' was happening much in January. Guess that's why I didn't write. It was a mild January. We sat outside once or twice without a coat on. Only thing else about January was I tried for a 10 hour a week job but didn't get it. It's just as well. I really don't think I wanted to get into the middle of a bunch of church politics and wranglings. I would have done okay with it but it's probably a blessing in disguise. Would have really liked to have the money, though. It would have been mainly a work-at-home job, too. Oh, well. Oh, yeh, and we met Emma--Kip's new girlfriend. She's a real sweetheart. Funny, I didn't get any pictures of her. That's not like me. Okay, there was one more thing. Bill gave "sermon" at the Unitarian Universalist church that Amy and Todd go to. It was about his days as a theology student and why he dropped out. He was wonderful and so hilarious. I do think he missed his calling as a stand-up comedian. The piece is even better watching him deliver it but for those of you who couldn't be there, click HERE and you can read it for yourself.

Love of my lifeIt's Valentine's Day tomorrow. Somehow through the years we've let Valentine's Day disappear around here. I get treated pretty special most of the year so why make demands on my husband just because a certain day of the year rolls around? Know what I mean? And why pay those high prices for candy and flowers? Just wait a couple of days after and you'll get a great bargain on that red heart-shaped box of bonbons. Go to Target about a week afterwards and you can get them things for only $2.00. Honestly. Speaking of the love of my life. How do you like this picture of him? Ain't he cute? What I'm proud of is that there was complete glare on his glasses and I took the glare out with my Paint Shop Pro techniques. Yeh, he's still in his jammies but that's a great way to spend a weekend. Did you ever notice that he's got one blue eye and one brown eye? Makes him pretty special, I think. There's a name for that condition. Heard it on CSI. It's called Heterochromia.

Addy has been into potty training this past two weeks. Actually within one day, she had the idea down pat, her mom says. She's gone for over a week without any accidents. She's even sleeping through the night without wetting the bed. We should have known that she'd figure it out quickly. Mom and dad are overjoyed about not having to spend anymore money on diapers. That is till the next kid. They got such a good kid this time that they are wondering if they should dare have another one. It's tempting not to but yet it's a hard one for the heart to decide.

Kaboodle and Dusky love their catquariums. January was so mild that we were able to keep the catquariums open for them most the month. The sun hits the one on Bill's side most the day and that's the coveted spot. Even Butterball finds his way in there sometimes. But this day, Kaboodle was enjoying it to the fullest. I love her fluffy white belly. Don't you just want to reach in there and pet it?

Kaboodle in the sunOne thing of note, I finally gave in and joined the YMCA for the water exercise classes. I'm going twice a week to the athritis class. Eventually, I might go to a couple of more. Yeh, right. What I like doing is staying a little bit after class and stroking off a lap or two. I do the crawl one way and then do the backstroke the other way. I can manage about four whole laps this way. I think my muscles are loosening up a bit from this exercise. Sometimes hard to tell since in the winter my joints are more achey all the time.

I know. What a boring entry. But isn't winter kinda like that if you're not into outdoor sports? I enjoy nothing better than sitting in front of a roaring fire with my honey but since we don't have a real fireplace I have to rely on my memory of those cozy winter days at Dog Lake with our stovepipe fireplace going while we sat at our computers feeling all snuggly inside while watching the snow fall so thick that you couldn't see across the lake. God, I miss that place.
