Snow Update
December 23, 2004

Snowed inI have a couple of more pictures that I just had to put up today. It kept snowing throughout the night. Best estimate is that we got 10 inches maybe an inch or two more. We couldn't open our front door this morning because of all the snow piled up against it as you can see by the picture. Same with the side door. Thankfully, we have a basement door that opens out under the deck which stays relatively snow free.

I looked out at the Santa polar bear on the deck and he seemed to be waving goodbye today as he was being slowly swallowed up by the snow. I was able to reassure him that the big snowstorm is over and the snow will be melting off starting Tuesday. But Bill rescued him before that. He got out there with his shovel and with Todd's help they unloaded all the snow that was on the deck to the ground below. We now have a mighty impressive four foot mound under the deck. Bye byeOne could poise himself on top of that mound and slide on down the hill. If one had a sled. Seems there is no sled to be found in our house. We're not sure why. Well, maybe because mid to southern Ohio doesn't get these kinds of whopper storms but once in an eon so those of us who had sleds and got tired of moving them around from house to house decided to get rid of them. Once, we're all allowed to get back out on the roads I bet the stores are going to be having a heyday of sled sales. I saw a child's sled at Meijer last week, the kind with high sides, and almost bought it. Now I wish I had.

The library shut down for the day. We are in a Level 3 Snow Emergency. So, Bill got today off and will have tomorrow off, too, as one of his regular holidays. Todd, also got to stay home today. And, by the way, it's his birthday. Yeh, the poor guy has his birthday really close to Christmas. I thought I had it bad with my birthday being two weeks before the big holiday.

So, it's been pretty adventurous up here in our neck of the woods the past couple of days. Talk to ya soon if we survive the -6 F temperature we're supposed to get overnight tonight. Somehow I think we will survive that. I just feel bad for the gray and white stray cat that's been hanging around our yard lately. Yeh, another stray. Sigh... One more snow picture for all you people in Florida who miss the white stuff.

Summer is definitely over
