| Bill and I stayed in our pajamas all day long. What a fitting way to spend the last day of his vacation. He at his computer moving his blog to the server on his machine and other various computer sundries and me at my computer making one last Christmas house for a Sims game my e-mail Sims' group was holding. I had based mine on a Christmas song so I was heavily involved in "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" all day long. I made bean soup to use up the last of the ham and get all the meat off the ham bone. Ah, beans. Dontcha just love them? Especially the day after? I used pinto beans instead of the usual great northern beans or navy pea beans. I have to say that it tasted better with the pintos.
Of all the strange things, or at least that's probably what the neighbors thought. We went outside--in our pajamas, no less--and strung white lights on the tall fir tree in the back yard. It's close to the fence right by where we have our pool in the summer. I got this bright idea that it would be lovely to have little white lights in that tree when we're swimming. To help light up the darkness out there at night since there is no back porch light on this house. So, we figured we might as well put them up now to light up the darkness of our winter backyard. Bill, of course, put a dimmer on it and will put the timer from the garage Christmas lights on it when I decide it's time for those lights to give up the ghost. His mantra about dimmers is that it will extend the life of the bulbs nearly indefinitely. If anything, it will help keep the electric bill down a bit. Then we retired to the bedroom at 9:30 to watch "The Shipping News." Bill was loving all the Newfie accents. It was a great movie. I highly recommend it. Much better than The Mothman Prophecies. Actually, I enjoyed The Mothman Prophecies book a lot better even though it was written in a rather documentary style. Yep, not much happened at the Hudgins's ranch for this day. |
