The Misadventures of a Working Girl
Another Hump Day
July 9, 2002

Boy, does this day live up to its name or what?

I got fixated on The Meaning of Life again. What is the meaning of life? I asked that question in another one of my entries a couple of weeks ago. I got five responses which I need to put on the page there just for the sake of it.

So, again, I got to thinking I may have the answer to the meaning of life. Just keeping busy. Or does keeping busy add meaning to one's life? Ack! A paradox.

Today was a great example of what turned me against working in this office. It's been a slooooooow day. Once I'm in the office, I cope with being there better. It's when I'm home and thinking about having to go into the office that I have the trouble. Sheeesh, I feel messed up.

I came more prepared, though. I have this puzzle book. You know those kinds that are chock full of different puzzles--word search, cryptograms, logic puzzles, and others with names I can't remember now. Well, I cut out several smaller puzzles and tucked them in my purse. What a lifesaver they were. I kept one at a time on my desktop where it wasn't obtrusive and when I wasn't answering the phone, I doodled with it. Solved them all. It was much better than sitting there unoccupied and letting my mind torment myself.

I told the boss last week that I might consider staying on for one more week if they don't come up with a replacement. After a day like today, I'm wondering why I even offered that kind of shit. I don't want another week of this. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. So, that's it for me. I'm not going to volunteer to stay for another week. My bored brain is gonna have to have a talk with my guilty and dutiful conscience.

Tick tock
5 o'clock
Will it ever come?

Oh, so
Very slow
I am getting glum

My, my
Will I die?
Waiting for the time

OH, BOY!
What a joy!
It's 5:00, I get to go!
The heck with rhyming...
