Ice Fest
February 1, 2003

Yeh, all we need is a little more ice in our lives in January. But I suppose an ice fest can't be held in July, heh heh. The Ice Fest in Hamilton, Ohio was held two weeks ago. I'm finally getting around to writing about it. It was held during one of those bitterly cold windy days we had just lately but at least the sun was shining for once so the ice sparkled and glistened. A little too much on one ice statue. It was a beautiful rendition of hovering dragonflies. The wings and tail had dropped off one of them. The other statues on display all held up better as you can witness below. We didn't stay too long because the wind was whipping right through my poor little Canadian husband. He should have worn his snowmobile suit.
Ice bear
What better way to start off than with a picture of the ice bear?
No, I'm not a Republican
Keeping with the animal theme, this was a striking sculpture.
A plug for Bill's workplace
To show our loyalty, I just had to include the Lane Public Libraries entry featuring Ohio's astronauts.
Ohio State University's great achievement
I haven't mentioned the great sport's achievement that The Ohio State University pullled off this year. Winner of the national championship in the Fiesta Bowl this year. Go Bucks!
Sculpture in the making
Two ice carvers show off their talents to the crowd. They put on quite a show with flourishes and funny gestures as they were plying their skill. This turned out to be an eagle.

Hope you enjoyed.
